Due to a water transmission main break (36-inch transmission line) this morning at N. Glebe and Chain Bridge roads, Arlington County has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for nearly half of the County, including Fairlington.

The break caused pressure drops in several locations across the County. The advisory is a safety measure because of depressurization.

You should bring your water to a rolling boil for three minutes then cool before:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing Teeth
  • Washing fruits and vegetables
  • Making ice
  • Giving to pets

Repairs may stretch into Sunday, November 10, but at this time it is unclear how long the boil water advisory will remain in effect.
